God’s insurance

27 February 2023 ‘All the days of my life.’ Psalm 23:6 NKJV

Most insurance companies are trustworthy. They’ll cover us through many of the seasons and incidents of life. But not all insurance companies are like that. In some cases, the moment you make a claim, they either hike up the renewal payments, make it awkward to follow through on the claim or find a sneaky way to cancel the policy or void the insurance. But the insurance policy we have with God is awesome. The premiums were paid by Jesus’ blood when He spoke these words: ‘It is finished’ (John 19:30) – which means ‘paid in full’. There are different kinds of insurance that cover things like fire, property, theft, health, vehicles, and death. But the only insurance policy that can cover us beyond death is the one God offers. And we don’t even have to worry about reading the ‘small print’, because He will never cancel it. Paul lays the facts out clearly for us: ‘Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?…in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord’ (Romans 8:35, 37-39 NKJV). If you’ve repented of your sins and placed your trust in Christ to be your Saviour, then you’re covered for time and eternity. In the words of the song ‘Amazing grace’, ‘Through many dangers, toils, and snares, I have already come; ’tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home.’
